Barbara Barbs
Barbara Kruger, 2010
ce, 1999
Barbara Kruger's work always seems, at first, to be offering a critique of the political-economic-cultural status quo, but upon closer examination, it's obvious that it just ends up reinforcing it.
Kruger accommodatingly eschews her characteristic black and white photo image for glossy full color porno-realism, and the text is ultimately no different than the copy the magazine would normally use to hide a hot chick's goodies.
Her neoliberal philosophy of art is summed up in the quote used in the drawing above.
